ANNO DI PUBBLICAZIONE: 2007.
LABEL: nessuna Label e numero indicati.
NOTE: Audience Recording del 17 aprile 1972 di Little Rock.
Anche le ballate godono di una gran cura nell’esecuzione e ci sono da segnalare "For The Good Times" e "Never Been To Spain".

CANZONI: dal vivo a Little Rock, Arkansas. 17 aprile 1972. Spettacolo serale.

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” come highlight (già edita in passato in altri bootlegs).
Elvis Italian Collector Club - The King is alive!"]

QUOTES:

Joe Cocker: "ELVIS IS THE GREATEST WHITE BLUES SINGER IN THE WORLD TODAY."

Howlin’ Wolf: When interviewed in 1966, Howlin’ Wolf commented on the white blues singers. He liked Paul Butterfield, he said, also "that other boy - What's his name? Somewhere out in California, that "Hound Dog Number". He was talking about Elvis Presley. But surely Elvis couldn't be considered strictly a blues singer, somebody pointed out. Maybe not, conceded Wolf in the great hoarse growl of his, but "he started from the blues. If he stopped, he stopped. It's nothing to laugh at. He made his pull from the blues."

Little Richard: "He was an integrator, Elvis was a blessing. They wouldn't let black music through. He opened the door for black music."

Jimi Hendrix, who saw Elvis live in 1957, aknowledge him "As a fine blues singer."

Robert Plant: [...] If you can hear Elvis singing ' Love Me', then that's a great introduction to the blues."

Robert Plant (during a concert in 2007): "[...] Ok, who was the King of the Blues? Muddy Waters? Maybe even Elvis Presley. I think he had so much contact, when he was a kid at school, he was listening to Memphis radio, in the early Fifties [...]"

Chris Bailey (The Saints) on "That's all Right": "My ultimate favourite. Whatever you say about Elvis, he very much liked black blues music. His music was black before he went off to Hollywood or wherever. The pureness of sound all these years later... I put that on and go, 'Why am I even trying? I can never better this.' He does three Arthur Crudup songs and they're all works of art."

Trevor Cajiao: "Don't let anyone tell you the blues is strictly for the black man. The passion and feel in El's version of 'One Night' transcends all musical boundaries. Apart from, maybe, Duane Eddy's 'Peter Gunn'', has there ever been a dirtier sounding record?"

Alan McGee: "Elvis had the blues. He was a black guy with white skin."

Venue: Crisler Arena

NOTE: My CD-R copy had one file only, so I had to split it into separate tracks and tag them (believe me when I say that it took me a long time...). Unfortunately the show has some cuts (e.g. at the beginning of "Help Me" and "Early Morning Rain", while the end of "Closing Vamp" is missing, not to mention "Closing Announcement"...). Furthermore there are some annoying digital clicks and pops. However the complete Ann Arbor concert can be found on the recently released "Elvis - At Cazzie's House" (Touchdown Productions).
Enjoy!

"I want to do with my guitar what Little Richard does with his voice." (Jimi Hendrix)

Little Richard (Richard Wayne Penniman) influenced the development of a variety of major musical genres in the twentieth century and many of those genres most significant artists. James Brown, who called Penniman his idol, stated that he was the first to put the funk in the rock and roll beat via his mid-1950s road band. Otis Redding indicated that Penniman contributed significantly to the development of soul music. Richie Unterberger of allmusic.com stated that Penniman "was crucial in upping the voltage from high-powered R&B into the similar, yet different, guise of rock & roll."
Penniman has been recognized for his musical contributions by many other high-profile artists. In 1989, Ray Charles introduced him at the "Legends of Rock n Roll" concert in Rome ["The Giants Of Rock 'N' Roll", ndr.], as "a man that started a kind of music that set the pace for a lot of what's happening today." Bo Diddley stated that "Little Richard was a one-of-a-kind show business genius. He influenced so many people in the business." Paul McCartney said that he idolized Penniman when he was in school and always wanted to sing like him, and Mick Jagger called Penniman "the originator" and "my first idol." In his high school year book, Bob Dylan declared that his ambition was "to join Little Richard". In 1966, Jimi Hendrix was quoted as saying, "I want to do with my guitar what Little Richard does with his voice." Cliff Richard, Keith Richards, Bob Seger, John Fogerty, David Bowie, Elton John, Freddie Mercury, Rod Stewart, and AC/DC bandmates Bon Scott, Angus Young, and Brian Johnson are among the many other top-selling recording artists of the twentieth century who stated that Penniman was a primary rock 'n' roll influence. In 1979, as he began to develop his solo career, Michael Jackson was quoted as saying that Penniman was a huge influence on him. (Wikipedia)

Lou Reed and The Blind Boys of Alabama - "Jesus" (Live at CBS Studios - 21-01-2010)

BUY IT!

P.S. (Wiki)

Il testo della canzone:

Jesus, help me find my proper place
Jesus, help me find my proper place
Help me in my weakness
Because I'm falling out of grace
Jesus
Jesus
Jesus
Jesus

BIS / ENCORES:

12) Sweet Jane
13) Perfect Day
